Diane Von Furstenberg NYFW SS17 : A New Diane

by Romina Costa

When Jonathan Saunders, the scottish designer moved to New York from London three months ago he knew his proverbial plate would be full. Three months to produce something that is his signature look for a brand that is as old as the 70s wrap dress would make anyone think twice to jump in and shake things up. But Saunder is no meek designer and this DVF collection speaks volumes of his willingness to rock the boat and make a static brand friendly to the younger eyes. This collection has his influence distilled with relentless creativity in the form of contrasting colors and an homage to the digital print revolution. This collection is as much DVF as it is Jonathan Saunders.

Escada NYFW SS17: Not Your Mother's Pant Suit

by Amanda Hensen

New York Fashion Week is a hard time to show for any brand. It is overwhelming and at at times outright brutal. So to be able to do it over and over again and maintain a certain level of consistency in your work become far more important as all eyes are on you. Daniel Wingate knows that and Escada pulls it off year after year being the solid brand it is. This spring/summer collection may be influenced by the colors of africa but has distinctly 70s silhouettes and high waisted pants. Escada's contribution to Hillary Clinton's pant suit has become sort of an iconic engagement for better or for worse. But the brand remains true to its core philosophy and this year is no different. Escada may not stand out, but it is surely not standing down.
